FCTA Don Seal PDP National Headquarters for Land Matter

Abuja, Nigeria — On May 26, 2025, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike, carried out a significant action by sealing the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja. At precisely 2:06 PM, FCTA staff locked the entrance gate of Wadata Plaza, the PDP’s national secretariat located in Wuse Zone 5.

This decisive move comes in the wake of the FCTA’s announcement made last Sunday regarding its plans to reclaim properties linked to the revocation of 4,794 land titles. The affected titles have been in default of ground rent payments ranging from 10 to 43 years.

Minister Wike explained the rationale behind this action, stating, “We cannot allow the continued occupation of properties without the dues being paid. It’s time to enforce the law and reclaim what rightfully belongs to the government.”

The PDP, in a statement following the sealing of its headquarters, expressed its concern over the FCTA’s actions. Party officials described the move as an intimidation tactic aimed at stifling political opposition in the nation’s capital.

The party’s spokesperson remarked, “This is an abuse of power and a direct attack on democracy. The PDP will not bow to such threats. We will seek legal redress to challenge this unlawful act.”

Nigeria’s political landscape has been witnessing increased tension, particularly as the 2025 general elections approach. The sealing of the PDP headquarters raises questions about the implications for political freedom and expression in Abuja.

As the situation unfolds, many Nigerians are keenly watching the interplay between the FCTA and the political parties, particularly under the current administration.
