One of the former governorship candidates of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ekiti State, Kemi Elebute-Halle, and her numerous supporters have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This significant political move happened on Thursday.
Elebute-Halle and her supporters were warmly received by the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja. During the reception, Elebute-Halle explained that the main reason for their defection was the ongoing reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which she believes will ultimately benefit the country.
She praised the Governor of Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji, for his role in convincing her to join the APC. According to her, the decision to defect was finalized on October 7, during a gathering in Ekiti State that saw over 7,000 people from various political parties, including APP, ADP, AD, SDP, LP, PPA, and PDP, join the APC.
Ganduje welcomed Elebute-Halle and her supporters, commending them for their bold decision to defect and for believing in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party and promised their involvement in all party activities.
