Di event feature humanoid robots wey mingle with di crowd, dance, and serve drinks.
Musk say di Cybercab go cost less than $30,000 and go be available before 2027. Di vehicle no go have steering wheel or pedals, and it go use inductive charging instead of traditional plugs. Musk explain say Tesla “overspecced” di onboard computers, comparing it to Amazon Web Services approach, where processing power dey distributed among di network of vehicles.
Tesla also announce plans to implement autonomous driving features in di Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in California and Texas by next year. Musk say di S and X models go also feature autonomous driving capabilities, but no specific timelines dey for dem.
In addition to di Cybercab, Musk unveil an autonomous van called Robovan, wey can transport up to 20 people and cargo. However, no pricing or production timeline dey for dis vehicle yet.
Musk emphasize say Tesla’s autonomous vehicles go be safer than human drivers, citing di vast amount of driving data collected from millions of vehicles. “With dat level of training data, it’s clear dat it will outperform human capabilities because you can’t experience a million lives,” he explain. “It doesn’t get fatigued and doesn’t text. It will be 10, 20, 30 times safer than a human.”
Di event come at a time when Tesla face a class-action lawsuit in di United States from owners who were promised full self-driving capabilities dat have yet to materialize. Despite di challenges, Musk remain optimistic about di future of autonomous driving technology.
