Dubai Customs dey shine bright at GITEX Global 2024, one of the biggest tech events for the year. Dem showcase plenty innovative projects wey use artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology to make trade operations faster and better for customers.
At the event, Dubai Customs introduce several AI-powered projects, including ‘Al Munasiq,’ a system wey use GenAI to predict the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes for customs declarations. Another project be ‘Octa,’ an AI-driven personal assistant wey help customers with their inquiries about customs and trade in Dubai. Then, there be the ‘Shahin’ project, which help track shipments electronically between Dubai’s ports, using electronic seals for real-time tracking and instant alerts if there be any route deviations.
Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of Technical Support at Dubai Customs, talk say the department don dey use AI technologies for long to simplify processes, cut costs, and increase customer satisfaction. These innovations align with Dubai’s economic agenda to boost foreign trade.
Fareda Fadhel, Director of the Tariff & Origin Department, also mention say GITEX be a great platform to show off these digital projects. The ‘Al Munasiq’ app, for example, help users assign HS codes accurately to avoid delays or extra costs. The app dey available for download and easy to use, allowing users to input descriptions or images to get the correct codes.
