One civil society organization (CSO) don warn Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State to no dey accept the new local government administration law wey the state house of assembly just pass. The CSO say the law be against the Supreme Court judgement on local government autonomy and dey anti-people.
The group claim say the law go undermine the independence and autonomy of local governments, which dey contrary to the principles of federalism and democratic governance. Dem also argue say the law no dey in the best interest of the people of Anambra State.
This development come at a time when there be ongoing debates and controversies over the powers and roles of local governments in Nigeria. Many stakeholders dey call for greater autonomy for local governments to ensure effective grassroots development.
Governor Soludo and the Anambra State government yet to respond to the CSO’s warning. However, the issue likely to generate more discussions and debates in the coming days.
