As dem ask am when him go marry, Chike no gree hold back at all; him just straight talk say, “In my personal opinion, I think it’s a stupid step to get married.” (Ehn, if we fit dey throway marriage like dat!) For him eyes, marriage no be priority, rather na financial stability matter wey dey make him feel fly.
Di Boo of di Booless wey dey drop sweet love songs talk sey for im to dey happy, na money e need pass anything. “For me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money. This no be canal, I won’t lie to you, I like money. I want money,” Chike yarn. (Who no like money abeg?!)
Chike dey reminisce about im journey for music, as e talk sey e no even plan sey e go dey sing for life. “I would say maybe right after my university, I knew music is what I’ll do for a living. I won’t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me,” him talk, as e laugh small. (Disturbing people don turn something wey pay am now, see life!)
Before e blow, Chike dey face serious financial wahala, as him even dey act for about two years to survive. “It was a tough part, I even had to start acting for like two years,” him recount. Di struggle no be small, as some of him friends no gree support am when di time come wey e wan do show.
Chike remember the time wey e call him guy friends to help am with N400,000 to stage one show, but dem just do like say dem no hear. “I just thought that I deserved di respect of telling me that, oh, you don’t have it, or you can’t do it now,” him tallk, face still dey show di pain wey e feel. (Omo, no be everybody wey dey cheers you go fit carry your load o!)
But no worry, Chike find help wey he no expect from one babe, wey come use generosity shower him. “And she just looked at me, and she was like, Chike, don’t worry, I’ll give you the money,” him talk with smile. (Now that na di kind friends wey we no go forget!)
From di time Chike start him music career for 2015 after him shine for Project Fame, di guy don show say e no be here to play. Be like say fate play am as e take first runner-up for The Voice of Nigeria for 2016 and e don come drop im first single, Fancy, wey dey sweet pass sugar ehn!
