Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu don order investigation after tanker explosion wey happen for Karu area of Abuja on Wednesday night, wey cause multiple accidents and loss of life. Preliminary report show say brake failure and poor road condition fit be the cause of the explosion, but dem still dey gather more details as dem investigate further.
For statement wey Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, issue on Thursday, Tinubu talk say every person wey sustain injury go receive proper medical treatment for different hospitals for Abuja. E also express condolences to families wey lose their loved ones, especially as the accident happen for peak hour.
“The President don order make dem investigate the root cause of this incident and recommend ways wey go fit prevent any similar tragedies in the future,” Onanuga narrate. “E dey important say we ensure say safety dey around all the main roads wey dey lead into and comot from the capital city.”
As of the time wey this report dey come out, na 10 people dey confirmed say don die from the explosion, according to the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD). Over 30 others dey receive treatment for various hospitals, some don even suffer serious burns. The gas wey burst during the accident don caused serious fire wey burn multiple vehicles.
Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, don also talk say he go cover the medical bills of all the victims. Wike describe the incident as avoidable and call on drivers to dey careful, especially those wey dey drive heavy trucks.
“We dey appeal make road users, especially drivers of big vehicles, ensure say dem dey obey speed limit and traffic rules,” Wike stress. “We go continue to dey work to improve road safety across all routes for the city.”
The accident don raise concerns about the state of infrastructures for Nigeria, as the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), don blame the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government for the worsening condition wey lead to this kind of accident. Dem talk say na irresponsibility wey dey cause mayhem on Nigerian roads.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Blood Service Agency (NBSA) don call for blood donation as many of the victims dey need urgent blood transfusion. Dem dey urge citizens to come out to help save lives.
“Your blood fit be the difference between life and death for these victims,” say Saleh Yuguda, Director General of NBSA, as he dey appeal to eligible Nigerians to donate blood. “We don dey work hard to ensure say we go fit save all the lives wey we suppose save.”
