French President Emmanuel Macron don dey call for immediate ceasefire for the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. On Saturday, Macron talk say the priority now be to return to a political solution and stop delivering arms to Israel for use in Gaza and Lebanon.
Macron make dis statement during an interview on French radio show “Etcetera” on France Inter. He say France don already stop its arms deliveries to Israel and urge other countries to follow suit. Macron emphasize say the Lebanese people no suppose suffer more and Lebanon no suppose become another Gaza.
The situation for Lebanon dey very bad as massive explosions dey happen for the southern suburbs of Beirut, and nearly 40 medical centres don close due to Israel’s air strikes. The death toll from Israel’s escalation of its war against Hezbollah don surpass 2,000 people, with over 1.2 million people displaced according to Lebanese health officials.
Macron also regret the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to launch a ground operation in Lebanon, saying it is pushing the region to war. France dey lead efforts to mediate a solution, calling for a 21-day ceasefire alongside the US and several Arab and European countries.
Iran‘s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also join the conversation, saying Iran and its allies no go back down against Israel. This tension dey increase as Israel launch ground operation across its northern border on October 1.
