The storm, which was a powerful Category 3 with winds of 120 mph, weaken to a Category 1 as it travel across the state. It drop more than 18 inches of rain on St. Petersburg alone, which is about three months of the city’s rainfall in just one day. The strong winds tear off the roof of St. Pete’s Tropicana Field and topple a crane onto nearby buildings. Storm surges sweep away boats and cars, and flooding affect many homes and major roadways.
In another part of the world, Pope Francis welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy back to the Vatican on October 11. This meeting, which take place in the morning, come after the ‘Dubrovnik Declaration’ agreed on October 9 at the Ukraine South-East Europe Summit in Croatia. Pope Francis and President Zelenskyy discuss the need for continued humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the plight of deported Ukrainian children. The Pope also reiterate his constant prayers for peace in war-ridden Ukraine.
