Benue State Dey Prepare For Flood: Camps and Relief Materials Ready

Benue State government don dey take serious steps to prepare for the impending floods wey dey come from the release of water from Lagdo Dam in Cameroon. According to Odoh Ugwu, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, the state government dey fully ready to manage any potential flooding.

Ugwu advise residents wey dey live near the riverbanks to relocate to higher ground as a precautionary measure. James Iorpuu, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Benue, also ask residents living within one kilometre of the River Benue to relocate immediately to avoid any potential disaster.

The state government don establish designated shelters for those in high-risk areas to relocate to. Iorpuu list these shelters as part of the state’s flood preparedness plan.

In addition to setting up camps, the state government also dey distribute relief materials to those affected by the floods. This include food and non-food items to help alleviate the suffering of flood victims.
