The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev Israel Akanji, has called on the Federal Government to lower the price of petrol, highlighting the severe impact the high fuel cost is having on Nigerians. Akanji made this appeal during the dedication of the new church building of Triumphant Baptist Church in Akowonjo, Lagos.
He emphasized that the fuel crisis is affecting various aspects of life, including households, transportation, and even hospitals. Akanji stressed that the government needs to implement policies to alleviate the burden on the masses, as fuel prices are impacting every area of life.
The clergy also expressed hope for the repair of Nigeria’s refineries and pointed out deeper issues within the country’s oil sector. He warned against the greed of a few individuals who might be exploiting the situation for personal gain, advising those in power to act in the best interest of all people.
Akanji congratulated the congregation of Triumphant Baptist Church on the occasion of their new building dedication, describing it as a significant milestone for the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
