For the local government elections wey happen on Saturday in Benue State, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) don win all the seats. According to reports, APC win all 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship seats in the state.
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, wey cast his vote in his hometown Mbagul in Vandiekya local government, express satisfaction with the conduct of the elections. He commend the citizens of Benue for their active participation and compliance with the electoral process.
However, there were some challenges during the elections, especially with the late arrival of electoral materials in some polling units. Voters in Makurdi, the capital city, experience confusion as they search for where to cast their votes. Some polling units no get electoral materials or officers until late in the day.
The Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, Richard Tombowua, declare the results on Sunday, confirming APC’s landslide victory. Despite some hiccups, Tombowua say election dey go on smoothly across the state.
