Demonstration wey ‘Take It Back’ group organize spread for major cities like Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt, even after police don warn say make people no come out to protest.
Police for Nigeria deploy tear gas to scatter the protesters for Port Harcourt and Abuja. Malam Isah Sanusi, wey be Amnesty director for Nigeria, confess say dem don get news say some protesters don dey arrested, but dem still dey try to verify the matter.
“E be shame and e dey pain us say people wey just wan protest peacefully collect wahala,” Sanusi talk. “We dey call on the government to allow people express their opinion how dem dey run government, whether e sweet them or e no sweet them.”
Sanusi continue talk say, “People for Nigeria get the right to come out and protest peacefully, because na wetin democracy dey promote – make citizens fit voice their opinion.”
Amnesty International don urge Nigerian government make dem no interfere with citizens’ right to protest on behalf of wetin dem believe say need correction.
‘Take It Back’ group, wey dey lead the protest, talk say dem don inform police about the planned demonstration to ensure protection, as e be democratic right.
