November 25, 2025 – Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, don drop serious wahala as e call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend di Armed Forces Act 2004 wey dey make soldiers retire once dem reach 60 years or don serve for 35 years. Akinyemi yan say dis law na old colonial policy wey suppose don pack hand for corner, especially now wey security matter dey scatter Nigeria like jollof rice in party.
For him statement, Akinyemi remind Tinubu say during di Second World War, di British people bin suspend similar policy to gather more soldiers. Na im so he suggest say make Nigeria follow suit and discard dis old law during dis current wahala wey still dey happen. E no go beta if dem no fit get enough soldiers wey fit carry guns to protect di people.
Di former minister also sabi suggest make dem recruit plenty military personnel fast fast to tackle di plenty security issues wey dey face dis country, from insurgents to bandits and all dis wahala wey dey disturb sleep. If dem no act sharp sharp, e go be like say we dey use paper to defend di house wey fire dey burn.
“I dey urge President Tinubu to quickly suspend di Armed Forces Act 2004 and make dem call back all di military officers wey don retire for di past six months,” Akinyemi add, as if e dey ginger Tinubu like dem dey play football match for final. “Dis one go help us to strengthen our soldiers and fight dis ongoing wahala.”
