Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, don talk say judiciary remain one important ally for our collective quest for human security and progress. Him make this statement during the Special Court Session to mark the Opening of the 2024/2025 Legal Year at the Rivers State High Court premises in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Fubara emphasize say the judiciary must always remain upright, independent, free, and fearless if dem want play their role well. Him say under our Constitution, the Executive arm and the Judiciary play different roles but dem share big responsibility to uphold the rule of law and ensure peace and security in the State.
According to Fubara, the judiciary in Rivers State don dey stable, independent, and effective, and dem no dey involved in controversies like some other places. Him praise magistrates and judicial officers for their faithfulness to their oath and their contributions to the State’s advancement.
Fubara also thank other stakeholders, including the Bar, the Bench, judicial workers, and security agencies for their positive roles in strengthening the Judiciary and advancing the rule of law in the State. However, him note say there are still areas needing improvement, especially in ensuring universal access and speedy dispensation of justice.
Him assure say his administration go continue to respect the autonomy and independence of the Judiciary and provide necessary support. Fubara mention say his government don provide new vehicles for magistrates, facilitate the appointment of seven new judges, and plan to finish the construction of a new High Court complex before the end of the year.
