NNPC Still Dey Buy Dangote Petrol Alone – Marketers

Nigerian oil marketers don talk say Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) still dey buy Dangote Refinery petrol alone, despite Federal Government directive wey allow marketers to buy direct from refineries.

Dele Tajudeen, Zonal Chairman for South-West of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), reveal dis after meeting with Dangote Group officials on Monday. He say IPMAN team, led by their National Vice President, Hammeed Fashola, meet with Aliko Dangote to discuss direct sale of petrol.

Although government don permit marketers to buy petrol direct from Dangote Refinery, ending NNPCL’s role as sole off-taker, IPMAN say the existing agreement between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery still dey.

Tajudeen explain say, “We had very useful and fruitful discussion on direct purchase of products from Dangote refinery. The Vice President of Dangote confirm say Minister of Finance/ Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Minister of Petroleum Resources direct dem to commence sales of products to marketers who register with refinery, but dem still get pending agreement with NNPC Ltd which still subsist.”

He add say, “Until and when the agreement is terminated by either party, the direct sales will still be on hold.”

This development come as NNPCL recently increase petrol price to N1,030 per liter in Abuja. Earlier, on September 16, NNPCL also adjust petrol pump price after dem purchase Dangote Petrol.
