Jimmy Carter Vote for Kamala Harris at 100 Years Old

Former President Jimmy Carter, wey just turn 100 years old, don cast his ballot for the 2024 presidential election. According to his family and the Carter Center, Carter vote for Vice President Kamala Harris through mail ballot on Wednesday.

Carter, who dey receive hospice care since February 2023, had been determined to live long enough to vote for Harris. His son, Chip Carter, tell the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his father never vote for a Republican in his life and had expressed his desire to vote for Harris even before his 100th birthday on October 1.

Jason Carter, the former president’s grandson, also mention during the Democratic National Convention in August that Harris “embodies my grandfather’s legacy.” Carter’s wife, Becky Payne, drop off the ballot at the Sumter County courthouse near his hometown of Plains, Georgia.

This historic vote come just as early voting start in Georgia, a crucial battleground state for both Harris and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Despite his health challenges, Carter remain engaged in politics, and his vote is seen as a significant endorsement for Harris.

Carter’s achievement is also notable because he is the longest-living U.S. president, and his vote will count even if he is no longer alive by Election Day on November 5, according to Georgia election rules.
