CFA Society, FMDQNext Train EKSU Students in Investment Skills

CFA Society Nigeria, in collaboration with FMDQNext, has empowered some students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) with basic investment skills. The three-day hands-on training, themed ‘Developing the Next Generation of Finance and Investment Management Leaders,’ was part of CFA Society Nigeria’s University Outreach program.

The training included an overview of the financial sector and FMDQ Group operations, as well as live trading sessions on FMDQ in Lagos. The students were highly engaged and enthusiastic, appreciating the opportunity to learn outside the classroom and particularly thrilled by the practical aspects of trading. The top three students even earned a profit during the live trading sessions, with the highest being over N2 million.

According to the President of CFA Society Nigeria, Ibukun Oyedeji, the training is one of the many ways the society interfaces with Nigerian universities to develop future finance and investment management professionals. “All these are designed to catch them young, develop and deepen the talent pool in our financial markets and develop them into future leaders in the finance industry,” Oyedeji said.

The Executive Director of CFA Society Nigeria, Yemi Ajagun, corroborated this, stating that the positive reception and successful outcomes have proven the concept of exposing students to immersive hands-on and practical training with practitioners. FMDQNext served as the host, providing training facilitators, access to their facilities, and practical trading demonstrations.

The students expressed gratitude to CFA Society Nigeria, FMDQNext, and the Pro-Chancellor for making the experience possible, highlighting the transformative nature of the training and the invaluable insights it provided into the financial world.
