Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) don dey negotiate with Dangote Refinery to begin direct loading of petrol from the refinery. According to IPMAN National President, Abubakar Maigandi, dem dey finalise all necessary details and dem optimistic say the deal go soon conclude.
Maigandi talk dis during the inauguration of a monitoring and surveillance taskforce team to prevent oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism, and other sharp practices in Abuja. He confirm say the pricing issue with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) don dey resolved, and now dem focus on securing deal with Dangote Refinery.
IPMAN dey demand say NNPCL should sell petrol to dem at the same rate Dangote Refinery dey sell, or refund the money wey dem owe dem for the past three months. Abubakar Shettima, IPMAN national president, express dis concern on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily program, saying the delay in refunds dey cause financial strain for petroleum marketers.
The association also complain about the lack of transparency from Dangote Refinery on the exact price of petrol. Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) president, Billy Gillis-Harris, emphasize the need for improved communication between Dangote Refinery and retail sector.
With the full deregulation of the sector, oil marketers dey clamour for direct loading of petrol from the refinery. However, the volume of petrol produced by Dangote Refinery currently no dey enough to meet domestic demand, so dem plan to import petrol to augment the supply.
