Police don blame the high death toll from the recent explosion in Jigawa state on people wey dey scoop fuel from the overturned tanker. The incident happen past midnight when the tanker driver lose control of the vehicle while dey travel on a highway close to a university.
According to police spokesperson, Lawan Adam, the residents of the area rush to the overturned tanker to scoop up the fuel, not knowing the danger. As dem dey scoop the fuel, the tanker explode, causing a massive inferno that kill 94 people on the spot and injure 50 others.
The police say the explosion was very severe because many people were gathered around the tanker trying to get fuel. This incident show how desperate people can be when it come to fuel, and it also highlight the dangers of scooping fuel from overturned tankers.
