No fewer than 105 people don die and 55 others injure after one petrol tanker explode for Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Tuesday.
The Police Spokesperson in Jigawa, Shi’isu Adam, confirm this in one interview with newsmen on Wednesday. He say the tanker driver lose control near Khadija University around 11:30 p.m. when the accident happen.
Adam explain say the driver dey come from Kano and dey go to Nguru in Yobe when the accident occur. He also talk say people gather around the accident scene, which cause the high number of casualties.
“We dey worry say in spite of police warning for people to steer clear from scenes of accidents involving fuel tankers, they still engage in such acts. People gather around the accident scene, that be the reason for the mass casualty,” Adam say.
A mass burial of the victims go hold by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Adam. The injured people dey receive medical attention at the Ringim General Hospital.
