The players and officials of the Super Eagles were subjected to harsh treatment by Libyan authorities. According to Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, dem divert their plane from Benghazi Airport to Al Abraq Airport while dem dey descend, and the Libyan government no give dem any reason for the diversion.
Troost-Ekong write on X say, “12+ hours in an abandoned airport in Libya after our plane was diverted whilst descending. Libyan government rescinded our approved landing in Benghazi with no reason. They’ve locked the airport gates and left us without phone connection, food or drink. All to play mind games.”.
