For World Food Day, the Oyo State government has urged residents to embrace backyard farming and has introduced several initiatives to support farmers in the state. One of the key initiatives is a 50% subsidy on tractorisation for farmers.
According to the announcement, 5,160 acres of farm land have been ploughed under this subsidy program. This move is aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and making farming more accessible and affordable for local farmers.
The government has also provided various inputs to farmers, helping them to improve their farming practices and increase their yields. This support is part of a broader strategy to promote food security and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Oyo State.
The call to embrace backyard farming is intended to encourage more people to engage in agriculture, even in urban areas, to help meet the food needs of the community and reduce reliance on external food sources.
