Telcos Condemn Hike in Starlink’s Internet Subscription

Nigerian telcos dey cry out against Starlink, Elon Musk‘s satellite internet service, over de recent hike in internet subscription prices. The Association of Licensed Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ALTON) condemn dis decision, saying it no follow proper procedure and no give dem notice before increasing de prices.

ALTON claim say dis sudden increase go affect many subscribers who depend on Starlink for their internet needs. Dem argue say de hike go make it hard for people to afford internet, especially in areas where traditional internet services no reach.

Starlink, which start operation in Nigeria last year, don gain popularity because of its ability to provide internet in remote areas. However, dis new price hike dey raise concerns about affordability and accessibility of internet services in de country.

Nigerian telcos also worry say dis hike go create uneven playing field in de telecoms industry, as dem no increase their own prices without regulatory approval. Dem call on regulatory bodies to intervene and ensure fair competition in de market.
