Kogi Gov Wan Make LG Chairmen Follow Autonomy Rules

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, don dey urge Directors of Local Government and Treasurers to make sure dem follow the rules of local government autonomy and professional ethics.

Ododo talk dis thing during an interactive session with Directors of Local Government and Treasurers at the Government House in Lokoja on Sunday.

The governor tell the local government administrators to see demselves as representatives of the government at the grassroots level. He say their performance as top civil servants go strengthen the relationship between the government and the people, and bring more development to local government administration.

Ododo commend the resilience and productivity of the Directors of Local Government and Treasurers, stressing that their importance in ensuring accurate records and upholding professional ethics, especially among accountants in the public sector, is crucial for transparency and accountability in governance.

He also call for unity among officials, encouraging them to rally around the Accountant General of the state, Habiba Onumoko, to ensure the delivery of democracy dividends to the people at the grassroots level.

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Umar, commend Ododo’s transparency and accountability as a leader and promise that the legislature will continue to support the Governor in his efforts to take governance closer to the people at the grassroots.

The state Accountant General, Habiba Onumoko, highlight Ododo’s contributions to grassroots development, empowerment of youth and women, and employment opportunities as well as appointments into government positions, describing the Governor as a man of impact and an embodiment of humility.

The chairman of the forum of Directors of Local Government in Kogi State, Aliyu Musa, express gratitude to the governor for the approval of the 72,500 minimum wage for workers in the state and other initiatives which he noted have enhanced the welfare of civil servants in the state.
