Lassa Fever Don Kill 172 People for Nine Months – NCDC

Lassa fever, one of the deadly diseases wey dey affect Nigeria, don claim the lives of 172 people for the past nine months, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC release dis information on Thursday, October 10, 2024, as part of their weekly epidemiological report. Dem say from January to September 2024, dem record a total of 1,044 confirmed cases of Lassa fever across the country.

The report also show that the disease spread across 23 states of the federation, with Edo, Ondo, and Bauchi states being the most affected. NCDC dey urge Nigerians to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease, including keeping their environment clean and avoiding contact with rodents.

Health experts dey advise people to report any symptoms of Lassa fever, such as fever, headache, and muscle pain, to the nearest health facility immediately. Early detection and treatment dey crucial in saving lives.

The NCDC also dey work closely with state health authorities and other stakeholders to enhance surveillance, contact tracing, and public health response to the outbreak.
