Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, don declare war on human trafficking, sexual and gender-based violence (GBV), and violence against persons. Dis decision come as Nigeria and de world mark de International Day of de Girl Child on October 11.
Governor Radda say he ready to tackle de menace of human trafficking and GBV head-on, knowing how much dem de affect de lives of girls and women in de state. He emphasize say his administration go make sure dat anyone wey dey exploit or abuse girls and women go face de full force of de law.
De governor also talk about de need for education and protection for girls. He say dat education be de key to securing de future of girls and dat his government go work hard to make sure dat all children, especially girls, have access to quality education and safe environment.
According to reports, many girls in Nigeria, including Katsina State, dey face serious challenges like early marriages, kidnappings, forced labour, and sexual abuse. Governor Radda promise say he go collaborate with international agencies, civic society groups, faith-based organisations, families, and individuals to protect de girl-child and ensure dem get holistic support.
De declaration by Governor Radda come at a time when UNICEF and other international agencies dey raise alarm about de rise of female genital mutilation, child brides, and out-of-school children in Nigeria. De governor’s commitment go be crucial in addressing these issues and ensuring a better future for girls in Katsina State.
