Bayelsa Queens and Heartland Queens don dey among the teams wey qualify for the quarterfinals of the ongoing fourth edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT).
Bayelsa Queens show say dem strong for Group B, as dem top the table with nine points. Heartland Queens of Owerri also secure the lead in their group with maximum nine points.
On Match Day 4, Bayelsa Queens hammer Espoir FC of Benin Republic 4-0 at the University of Benin Stadium in Benin City to secure their spot in the next round. Heartland Queens also defeat Aigle Royal d’Adjara of Cotonou, Benin Republic, 1-0, at the Western Boys High School in Ikpoba-Okha Council of Edo State.
The BOWFT, which is Nigeria’s foremost pre-season women football tournament, na initiative of Mrs. Betsy Obaseki in collaboration with private sector partners. The tournament aim to groom and empower the girl-child, and to promote grassroots sports development in Edo State and Nigeria. It also raise awareness and discourage social vices.
This year’s edition, which started on October 6 and will end on October 17, focus on the theme “Say No to Teenage Pregnancy and Child Motherhood.”
