Open Heaven 10 October 2024: Love For God

Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has released the Open Heaven devotional for October 10, 2024, with the theme “Love For God.” In this devotional, Pastor Adeboye emphasizes the importance of loving God with all one’s heart, soul, and mind, as commanded in Matthew 22:37.

The devotional begins with a memory verse from Matthew 22:37, which states, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” This verse sets the tone for the day’s reflection on the depth of one’s love for God.

The Bible reading for the day is taken from Psalm 63:1-8, where David expresses his deep longing for God, saying, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” This psalm highlights the intense desire and commitment one should have towards God.

Pastor Adeboye reflects on how many believers once had a fervent love for God but may have seen that love wane over time. He encourages readers to revive their hunger to please God, recalling instances where believers gave generously to God even when they had little. The devotional ends with a prayer point, asking God to increase one’s love for Him every day.

The hymn for the day is “Take My Life, And Let It Be,” which is a call to consecrate one’s life entirely to God, seeking to live in constant praise and service to Him.

Additionally, the prayer points provided for the day include thanking God for His loving kindness, seeking help to love God with all one’s heart, soul, and mind, and asking for the removal of idols and the increase of love for God in all aspects of life.
