Coco Gauff don show say she still got the magic, as she come back from one set down to beat Paula Badosa in the semifinal of the China Open in Beijing on Saturday, October 5.
Gauff, wey be the sixth-ranked player in the world, win the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Dis be her first final since she win the Auckland title at the start of the year. She go face either Zheng Qinwen or Karolina Muchova in the final on Sunday.
The match no be easy for Gauff, as she struggle with her serve and forehand. She serve three double faults in the first game and make some unforced errors wey help Badosa take the first set. But Gauff no give up; she keep fighting and eventually break Badosa’s serve in the eighth game of the second set to level at 4-4.
In the third set, Gauff break Badosa again in the second game and take a 3-1 lead. After Badosa save one match point with an ace, Gauff finally win the match when Badosa send a forehand long.
This win mark Gauff’s second WTA 1000 final, after she win in Cincinnati last year. She also talk about how she manage to stay focused and reset her mind during the match, despite some tough moments.
