Oyo school kidnap: Govment file charges against three suspects

Nigeria govment don file charges against three suspects wey allegedly get hand for di kidnapping of di Orire schoolchildren for Oyo State, south-west Nigeria. Na on Friday Nigeria govment file charges against di three men wey be Abdulrazak Umar wey dey popular as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid, Yunusa Musa wey pipo sabi as Yunusa bin Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani wey dem dey also call Abu Itisar.

Nigeria govment sama 10 count charges for dia head. Di 10-count charges wey govment don already file for di Federal High Court, Abuja na about terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and illegal mining. All di defendants wey from Suleja Local Govment Area of Niger State, allegedly conspire wit one Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to kidnap di school children and teachers for Oyo State.

Dis tin wey dem do dey contrary to Section 26(1) of di Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, Nigeria govment tok. Tori be say dem allegedly aid di kidnap of di school children and teachers. Dem also allegedly hide information about di identities and activities of di alleged masterminds even though dem bin know about di plan. Dis offence go against Sections 26(2) and 16(1) of di Act.

Di charge sheet also allege say three of dem, on or about 2nd June 2026, bin confess say dem be members of Darul Salam, wey be an affiliate of Jamaatu Asarul Muslima Fi Bilandis Sudan (Ansaru), one proscribed terrorist organisation for Nigeria, contrary to Section 25(1) of di Act.

For anoda separate counts, di first defendant, Abdulrazak Umar, accuse na say e provide training and instructions to terrorists and im dey ginger members to commit acts of terrorism through one WhatsApp group titled “The Oneness of Allah is the Foundation of Peace.” Im offence also dey against Sections 15 and 2(2)(g) of di Terrorism Act as well as Section 18 of di Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, dem tok.

Di tenth count accuse Umar say e dey engage in unlawful gold mining for streams within Chaza area of Suleja Local Govment Area between 2024 and 2026, contrary to Section 8(b) of di Miscellaneous Offences Act.

According to di security source, di suspects dey expected to appear for court next week wen dem don conclude investigation. “Dem still dey probe odas as di Agency insist on diligent investigation,” im add.
