US House vote to cut 100% aid to Nigeria over Christian persecution

Di US House of Representatives don agree to one amendment bill wey go increase withholding of assistance to Nigeria from 50 percent to 100 percent until di West African nation take effective steps to prevent and respond to violence within dia territory.

Gregory Stuebe, wey dey represent Florida 17th Congressional District for di House, bin propose di amendment on Wednesday. S. Nigeria until dia govment stop di slaughter of Christians don dey PASSED.

“American taxpayers no suppose bankroll govments wey dey turn blind eye while Christians dey dey abducted, tortured, and murdered. No more wasteful foreign aid!” Stuebe tok.

Di House bin first propose to halve funds appropriated for Nigeria for April until di secretary of state certify say di Nigerian govment bin take “effective steps to prevent and respond to violence and hold perpetrators accountable”.

Steube say “withholding only 50 percent of di funds appear to reward di Nigerian govment despite failure to meet dia fundamental obligation to protect citizens”.

“I rise in strong support for my amendment to increase di withholding threshold for assistance to Nigeria, from 50 percent to 100 percent. While keeping in place benchmarks wey demand make Nigeria take effective steps to address di violence and persecution wey continue to devastate di kontri,” Steube tok.

E add: “Nigeria don face horrific wave of violence wey dia corrupt govment don fail to address. For years, and especially in recent months, Christians and oda religious minorities for Nigeria don dey subjected to violence and terrorism for di hands of extremists wey dey operate wit impunity.

“Christian women and girls continue to dey abducted, assaulted, tortured, and killed. Dia churches dey burned, and entire communities dey erased.”

E argue say dem no suppose allow make dem use Americans hard earned tax to support corrupt regimes wey fail to uphold religious freedom, wey fail to adequately confront terrorism and fail to protect innocent pipo from persecution.

Steube also connect im push to America finances, as e ask why di kontri continue to dey send money for Nigeria as dia national debt dey approach $40 trillion.

Di US Senate must still clear di bill and di President go sign am, bifor e fit take effect. Dis one mean say di Wednesday vote no immediately change US funding to Nigeria.

Di vote dey come afta President Donald Trump redesignate Nigeria as ‘Country of Particular Concern’ for 2025 ova allegations of Christian persecution and afta US missile strike on Nigerian territory on Christmas Day draw tension between both kontris.

Although, Nigeria don reject di tok say Christians dey face persecution for di kontri. Nigeria and di US don since enta military partnership wey dey target terrorists for di kontri.
