Di Federal Government don approve new registration fee for WAEC and NECO examinations. Di fee don jump to N50,000 for school candidates, effective from 2027.
According to memo wey Vanguard newspaper see, di approval come after meeting wey examination bodies hold with di Honourable Minister of Education on 31st March, 2026. During dat meeting, dem discuss di need for upward review of examination fee. Di minister direct say WAEC and NECO should adopt uniform fee for dia SSCE examinations.
Di memo, wey dem direct to Registrar of NECO, state say di new fee of N50,000 go apply to NECO SSCE internal candidates from 2027. Di West African Examinations Council don also request similar increase for WAEC SSCE fee.
For some states like Lagos, di state government dey pay WAEC fee for candidates. Parents wey fit afford dey pay NECO fee for dia children.
