Troops nab 2 NSCDC, 1 prison officer for selling arms to militants

Troops of Joint Task Force South East Operation Udoka don bust illegal arms supply network wey involve two NSCDC officers and one officer of Nigerian Correctional Service. Dem dey accused of selling weapons to criminal elements for South East.

According to statement from Nigerian Army, dem arrest Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson of NSCDC, Superintendent Tasie Victor Nnamdi wey be Unit Armourer for NSCDC Enugu State Command, and Assistant Superintendent of Corrections Ekwueme Onyebuchi Clement. The arrests na part of ongoing offensive against criminals for South East.

For separate operation, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade under Operation UDO KA also arrest suspected armourer and logistics courier wey dey linked to attacks on oil installations and security personnel for Imo State. Dem recover plenty arms and ammunition including AK-47 rifle, M4A1 carbine, M16A2 rifle, six magazines, five pump-action guns, and locally fabricated pistol.

For Cross River State, troops of 245 Battalion join NDLEA to conduct raid at Balep Community along Ikom–Ogoja Road. Dem arrest three suspects and recover 2 Dane guns, one locally made pistol, 6 cartridges, military web equipment, woodland camouflage jacket, strike-face metal plate, axe, and substances suspected to be cannabis.

Following additional intelligence, troops of 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 Operation UDO KA, with 82 Division Provost Group, raid residence at Achara Road, Trans-Ekulu, Golf Estate, Enugu State. Dem arrest suspected IPOB/ESN member and gun runner, Friday Nnanna. Dem recover Beretta pistol, 11 different vehicle registration plates, improvised explosive device-making materials, assorted swords, one smoke tear gas canister, military accoutrements, and four vehicles.

The Nigerian Army say dem go continue intelligence-driven operations against criminal elements and their support networks. Dem also urge public to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
