Oyinlola dump Adeleke, back APM candidate for Osun guber

Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, don dump Governor Ademola Adeleke and endorse the gubernatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Adewale Adebayo, ahead of the August 15th 2026 governorship election.

Oyinlola dispel the acclaimed alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party, noting that the structure would rather work for APM and not any other party.

The ex-governor speaking with newsmen at his residence for Okuku, Osun State, after a meeting session with the 2027 National and State Assemblies candidates of APM led by its 2026 candidate, Adebayo, disclose that the APM/PDP alliance na movement wey dey seek to take over government for the 2026 and 2027 polls, hence dem need to strategise ahead of the polls.

The former governor say, “This meeting na to get to know our candidates for the forthcoming elections, the governorship elections and the general elections for 2027. This na movement wey get combination of APM and PDP. We form alliance to present formidable force for the forthcoming elections.

“So the modalities of going through the whole process na wetin we just come to discuss and to sensitise the general public say APM dey come. There is alliance between APM and PDP. That one dem formalise some time ago. There’s an alliance and na that alliance we dey build our strategy on for the forthcoming elections. This na endorsement for APM candidates and no other party.”

He charge the candidates to work rigorously for Adebayo to emerge victorious at the polls.

Ex-National Vice-Chairman of PDP, Tajudeen Oladipo claim say some leaders call am for phone before the meeting to solicit his support but he decline.

He say, “People don lose confidence for Accord and All Progressives Congress (APC), APM don provide better alternative for the people of the state. We no dey for the race for fun.”

Similarly, ex-Secretary to the State Government, Fatai Akinbade, charge the candidates not to take the contest as child’s play but work assiduously for victory.

The gubernatorial candidate, Adebayo say, “Osun election na litmus test for 2027 election, this na the reason why we must make statement by winning this poll to signal victory for our presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

“We no dey for the contest to back any political party, we commend una, our fathers for rejecting pleas and offers from APC and Accord. Dem get nothing to offer the state other than ill-governance. I dey confident say with the support of the PDP structure, we go win.”

Meanwhile, for another development, former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and an ally of Senator Iyiola Omisore, Ismail Kolawole, wey recently defect to the Accord Party, don promise to boost the reelection bid of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Kolawole don resign from the APC, citing political infidelity within the party. He state this at the general meeting of the Accord Party wey hold for Ila Local Government Area of the state, where dem officially welcome am into the party.

Kolawole, a grassroots mobilizer and former member of the House of Representatives representing Ila Federal Constituency, say as a strong pillar for Omisore’s camp, he go use his influence for Ila LGA of Osun State to ensure Adeleke’s victory for the upcoming governorship election for the state.

Yesterday’s meeting na his first official appearance since joining the party, and party leaders and members all dey present to receive am.

Kolawole also express his loyalty and commitment to the Accord Party while promising to mobilise massively and ensure say Governor Adeleke return for second term. He say he go do everything within his capacity to support the governor’s re-election and that all the people under his watch go vote for Accord for the forthcoming governorship election and other elections.

According to am, “I go show total dedication to the party and the governor’s success.”

Speaking on his defection, some of the party stakeholders describe Kolawole’s defection as big boost for the coming governorship election for Ila LGA and Osun State at large. The stakeholders note say “with a grassroots mobilizer of his calibre now with us, we dey more confident of victory. We pray his coming go strengthen the Accord Party.”
