Human rights activist and Oyo State governorship hopeful, Barrister Niyi Aborisade, don call on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to resign over worsening insecurity and economic hardship for Nigeria.
According to Aborisade, the continued wave of kidnappings, rising cost of living, hunger and unresolved security challenges don make di leaders unfit to remain for office.
For statement wey he release for Ibadan, di Oyo State capital, Aborisade draw comparison wit British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, wey resign even though he succeed for some areas but fail for immigration.
“Tinubu should resign as President. If Keir Starmer fit resign as Prime Minister despite his success for some areas but fail only for immigration, then no reason why President Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde no go resign,” he yarn.
He say di level of insecurity across di country, plus economic hardship and di impact of fuel price increase, show clear failure of leadership.
“Di level of insecurity for Nigeria, di untold hardship, di hunger and di unprecedented fuel increase don make am clear say Tinubu don fail di people of dis country. He no get answer to di Nigerian problems,” Aborisade state.
Di human rights activist also criticise Governor Makinde handling of security issues for Oyo State, especially di continued captivity of pupils and teachers wey dem abduct from secondary school for Oriire Local Government Area.
He note say more dan 40 days after di abduction, di victims never regain dem freedom, and he describe di development as evidence of government inability to provide adequate security.
“Governor Seyi is di chief security officer of di state. Di teachers and pupils wey dem abduct more dan 30 days ago still dey for forest. He no get answer or solution but continue to force people out of dem land,” he allege.
Aborisade maintain say leadership suppose be measured by ability to guarantee citizens safety and improve dem welfare, and he insist say both federal and state governments don fall short of those expectations.
“Di basis for di duo to continue leading di country no dey again, and di most honourable thing na to resign,” he add.
His comments come amid growing public concern over insecurity, economic pressures and di prolonged detention of abducted schoolchildren for parts of di country.
