According to Mr Udy Ntia, wey be Executive Vice President for Upstream for NNPCL, dis initiative na big step for their decarbonisation strategy. He talk say, we dey improve our ability to detect, quantify and prioritise methane abatement opportunities using advanced measurement technology. He also call for institutionalising progress reporting and technology transfer.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission dey target 1.9 million barrels per day production. Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser to President on Energy, talk say di target achievable despite constraints. She say, we dey back to production, we dey ramp up now. She mention infrastructure and asset integrity as challenges wey dem go address.
Eyesan, wey be NUPRC official, add say human capacity development critical for growth. She talk say industry must expand workforce capabilities to meet rising demands. Di Commission dey focus on creating enabling environment for operators, and increasing production go translate to higher revenues for country.
Di meeting also reinforce collaboration between NUPRC and Nigerian Revenue Service to improve transparency and accountability for oil and gas revenue collection. Dis follow transfer of revenue functions under new NRS Act.
