Police warn Nigerians no revenge on South Africans over xenophobia

Nigeria police don warn pipo to no take law into their hand and attack South Africans or dia business for Nigeria. Di warning come after some anti-migrant protests for South Africa wey don cause tension for di continent.

Police spokesperson Aliyu Giwa tok for statement say dem understand di pain and anger wey di attacks on Nigerians for South Africa cause. But e say dis na time for calm and restraint, because violence no go help anybody.

Giwa note say di matter dey addressed by government at di highest levels. E say any attempt to target South African nationals, diplomatic facilities, or businesses for Nigeria go be treated as criminal act.

Di police don put additional security measures around foreign missions, key infrastructure, and oda sensitive locations. Dem dey work with oda security and intelligence agencies to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

For South Africa, protesters wey organize under group March and March don accuse undocumented migrants of putting pressure on public services and involvement for crime. Dem don call on government to strengthen immigration enforcement and ask undocumented migrants to leave di country by 30 June.

Previous outbreaks of xenophobic violence for South Africa don trigger diplomatic tensions and retaliatory attacks for Nigeria, where some South African-owned businesses were vandalised and looted. But dis time, Nigeria police dey warn say reprisal attacks no go be tolerated.
