Activist and presidential candidate for African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, don declare say if e become Nigeria president, e go appoint drone as im minister of defence. E make this statement during live interview on Arise TV on Thursday.
“If I become Nigeria’s president tomorrow, my minister of defence will be a drone. That’s how much I believe in technology,” Sowore tok. The AAC flagbearer argue say Nigeria security crisis need urgent technological overhaul, saying di country need equipment, technology, and “honest leaders and supervisors and officers” to tackle di challenge.
E say di military don dey let down by commanders wey no wan leave di capital. “We have to have honest leaders and supervisors and officers who are not staying in Abuja fighting over land but actually fighting wars, generals who can actually strategise and do what is right,” e yarn.
Sowore also call for police force wey go focus on im core mandate. “A police force that can carry out internal security of the country, not escorting people or arresting people for insulting others on Facebook,” e tok. E describe im vision of command-and-control security architecture built around drones and artificial intelligence.
“I’m just going to have a control centre where people sit down and track terrorists and liquidate them,” e yarn. When di interviewer suggest say e fit go further by making artificial intelligence im minister of defence, Sowore agree. “That’s part of it. And that drone will fly everywhere,” e tok.
Di activist stress say technology alone no go end insecurity. E say any lasting solution must address di conditions wey dey drive young people towards militancy. “Ultimately, you must create a society where people can find jobs and go to school, and not be willing to take up arms,” e yarn.
Sowore don make similar remark for January 2026 during interview on Channels TV, where e first float di drone-minister idea.
For separate development, Sowore announce sweeping policy proposal wey aim to reform Nigeria housing sector. Di AAC presidential candidate for 2027 general election pledge to abolish di widespread practice of landlords wey dey demand upfront yearly rent from tenants.
For bold declaration posted on social media, di human rights activist say im first action as president go be to sign Executive Order wey go prohibit property owners from collecting more than three months rent at a time. According to Sowore, di measure na to ease di financial burden on millions of Nigerian tenants by aligning rental payments with monthly or short-term income flow of ordinary workers.
Di proposal form central pillar of im campaign, wey dey promoted under slogans #Sowore2027 and #TakeItBack. Sowore describe di initiative as direct challenge to economic exploitation for housing sector and step toward protecting vulnerable households.
Earlier on Thursday, SaharaReporters report say Sowore unveil ambitious reform plans for Nigeria housing and labour sectors. If elected for 2027, Sowore pledge to introduce minimum wage of ₦500,000 for workers and oversee di construction of one million public housing units nationwide.
For series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Sowore declare say im administration go dismantle wetin e describe as exploitative labour practices and elitist housing policies wey don impoverish ordinary Nigerians. “Under the Sowore administration, Nigeria will return fully to mass public housing — but this time, there will be no discriminatory “low-income housing” that segregates the poor and working class,” e yarn. “We will build mixed-income housing estates with green spaces, schools, malls, theatres, clinics, playgrounds, transport access, and community facilities built into them.”
Sowore accuse Nigeria political elite of hijacking public resources and using dem for personal luxury while millions remain homeless and impoverished. “For too long, corrupt elites have hijacked land and houses meant for the people, using stolen public funds to build mansions they don’t even live in. That era will end,” e yarn.
Di AAC presidential candidate further state, “Our goal is to build 1 million decent public homes across Nigeria — affordable, dignified, environmentally responsible, and built for workers, families, students, and communities. An unprecedented new era of public housing is coming.”
On labour reforms, Sowore vow to abolish casualisation and contract staffing arrangements, wey e describe as exploitative and dehumanising. “We are permanently discontinuing casualisation and exploitative contract staffing in Nigeria. Workers are not slaves, disposable tools, or modern-day serfs,” e write earlier on X. “Every worker deserves dignity, job security, fair wages, healthcare, pensions, and humane working conditions.”
“The era of using insecurity and unemployment to exploit Nigerian workers must come to an end. Under Sowore, labour will regain its dignity, and workers will regain their power,” e declare.
Sowore also insist say Nigerian workers deserve significantly higher wages, particularly those for critical sectors. “A minimum wage of N500,000 is not too much for Nigerian workers,” e state. “Police officers, soldiers, teachers, doctors, nurses, and other public servants deserve a living wage, and those in critical sectors must earn additional allowances for the risks, sacrifices, and essential services they provide.”
