Ogun TRACE begin safety operation, three injure for truck crash

Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, wey dem dey call TRACE, don begin “Operation Safety on Ogun’s 27 Major Traffic Corridors” for Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The affected corridors include Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Interchange-Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin-Ore Expressway, Sango/Ota-Atan-Owode-Idiroko Highway, Atan-Lusada-Agbara-Badagry Highway, Abeokuta-Kobape-Siun-Interchange Expressway, Abeokuta-Ewekoro-Ifo-Sango/Ota Expressway, and Rounder-Abeokuta-Olorunda-Ayetoro-Imeko-Ilara Border Road, among others.

Omonayajo urge motorists to drive carefully, exercise patience, consider other road users, and obey diversion rules for areas where rehabilitation work dey go on, especially for Ota-Idiroko, Sagamu-Ajebandele, Sagamu-Papalanto-Ilaro-Obelle and Ikorodu-Sagamu roads. He stress say the exercise aim to strengthen collaboration among safety and security agencies through initiatives like TRACE Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative, TRACE Emergency Traffic Service and Community-Based Traffic Management Scheme, wey dem call TRACE MAYORS.

He attribute the accident to overspeeding by the truck driver, wey result for loss of control.

According to Akinbiyi, the Mazda taxi driver veer off the road go bush and strike a pole while trying to avoid head-on collision with the truck. He add say good Samaritans rescue the victims and take them to an undisclosed hospital, while police evacuate the affected vehicle to Obada Police Station for investigation.
