Arsenal don confirm say their goalkeeper Karl Hein go dey join Bundesliga side Werder Bremen for permanent deal come July 2026. The 24-year-old Estonia international wey don play 45 times for im country, don spend di 2025/26 season on loan for di German club, where im make two Bundesliga appearances.

Hein first join Arsenal for June 2018 from im hometown club Nomme United. Im sign im first professional contract di following year and make im first-team debut for November 2022 against Brighton & Hove Albion for Carabao Cup third round at Emirates Stadium.

Di 6’4″ goalkeeper don also spend time on loan for Reading during 2021/22 season for Championship, as well as Real Valladolid where im make 32 appearances for all competitions last season.

Arsenal thank Karl for im contribution and wish am well for im next chapter with Werder Bremen. Di deal dey subject to completion of regulatory processes.

On joining di German side permanently, Hein say: ‘I’m delighted to be staying in Bremen for longer. Werder is one of the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs with a rich history. Clemens Fritz, managing director for sport at Werder Bremen, add: ‘Karl already showed last season that he is a goalkeeper of the highest quality. We’re therefore delighted to head into the new campaign with a strong number one between the posts.’

On Backhaus’ departure, Fritz explain: ‘From both a sporting and personal perspective, Mio’s departure is not an easy one for us. He played a very impressive debut Bundesliga season and also brought huge value to the dressing room by way of the person that he is. However, SC Freiburg submitted an offer that represents both a major opportunity for Mio and an extremely lucrative move for us financially, and so all parties are glad with how the move has gone. We wish Mio nothing but the very best for the future.’
