Dr Akin Ogunbiyi don declare say im emergence as All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate for Osun West go strengthen the party ahead of future elections. Ogunbiyi yarn this one while im dey address journalists and supporters after the APC primary election wey hold across the Osun West Senatorial District.
According to the primary results wey DAILY POST publish earlier, Ogunbiyi poll 30,651 votes to defeat other aspirants for the contest. Im opponents: Gafar Akintayo secure 1,456 votes, while Chief Peter Apata receive 14 votes.
The businessman describe the outcome of the exercise across the 110 wards for the senatorial district as an affirmation of im popularity and acceptance among APC members for Osun West. Im express appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, APC chieftain Bisi Akande and other party leaders for their support during the primary.
Ogunbiyi also thank members of the APC for the senatorial district for the confidence wey dem repose for am through the election. Im commend im fellow aspirants for their conduct during the exercise, noting say dem demonstrate maturity, unity and commitment to the progress of the party.
According to am, my emergence as the senatorial candidate of APC go strengthen our party for victory for the forthcoming governorship election and the 2027 general election. The APC candidate call on supporters and party members across Osun West to remain united and work collectively towards securing victory for the party for future elections.
Ogunbiyi pledge to uphold the values and ideals of the APC through quality representation, integrity and dedicated service to the people, while also offering support for the governorship aspiration of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda, HURMA, don urge the leadership of APC to uphold the principles of internal democracy, transparency, fairness, and justice, by avoiding the brewing crisis for the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Osun State. The rights group give this advice at a press conference for Lagos, following the primary election of the party for the constituency.
The Executive Director of the group, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak, raise alarm on alleged plans to alter the victory of Mr. Basheer Adegboyega Bello, BABS, and impose another aspirant, against the will of the people. Im recommend appropriate disciplinary and legal actions against all party members or collaborators wey dem find culpable for acts of fraud, manipulation, or anti-party conduct for the area.
Isiak note say failure to address this matter fit bring the party into disrepute ahead of the 2027 general election. Im urge the party to uphold the principles of internal democracy, transparency, fairness, and justice upon which the APC was founded.
According to am, we receive credible reports indicating that Mr. Basheer Adegboyega Bello, BABS, emerge as the lawful and authentic winner of the APC primary election based on the valid votes cast during the exercise. However, e be deeply disturbing say there are alleged efforts to unlawfully alter the outcome and impose another aspirant, Mr. Eniade Francis Olwadamilare, despite serious allegations surrounding the authenticity of credentials submitted by am.
The organisation say dem dey alarmed say instead of allowing transparency, fairness, and party supremacy to prevail, certain vested interests dey allegedly attempt to suppress the truth, compromise internal democratic procedures, and impose a candidate wey im qualification remain legally questionable. Such actions, if dem allow am stand, go not only undermine the integrity and credibility of the APC but also erode public confidence for democratic institutions and internal party processes.
