Peter Obi, wey be Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023, don confam say im dey leave African Democratic Congress (ADC).
TheCable don report on Saturday say Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano governor, go leave ADC.
For statement on Sunday afternoon, Obi say im dey quit di party because of “endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division”.
“Make I state am clear: my decision to leave ADC no be because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treat me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders do anything personally wrong to me. I go continue to respect dem,” im write for im X page.
However, di same Nigerian state and im agents wey create unnecessary crises and hostility inside Labour Party wey force me to leave, now dey find dia way enter ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building.
“Even inside spaces where one dey labour sincerely, sometimes dem treat you like outsider for your own house. You and your team become easy target for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as if honest contribution don become favour wey dem dey tolerate rather than appreciate.
“And when you choose to leave so dat those wey you dey leave fit get peace, and you step out go cold, dem still dey malign you and question your character. Despite all your efforts to continue working for better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those wey no wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions.
“Dere be moments wey I ask God for prayer: Why doing di right thing often dey misconstrued as wrongdoing for our country? Why integrity no dey valued? Why di prudent management of resources, especially when dem invest am for critical areas like education and healthcare, dey wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why humility and obedience to di rule of law often dey taken to be weakness rather than discipline?”
Obi add say im dey eager to see Nigeria wey dey work for im citizens, reiterating say im no dey desperate to be president, vice-president, or senate president. “I dey desperate to see society wey fit console mother wey dem don kidnap or kill her pikin while going to school or work,” im tok.
“I dey desperate to see Nigeria where pipo no go live for IDP camps but for dia homes. I dey desperate for country where Nigerian citizens no go go bed hungry, not knowing where dia next meal go come from.”
