Former Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali don open mouth talk about why plenty West African players dey run come South Africa. The man say the reason na because the local leagues for their side no good at all.
Nwabali wey shock South African fans when he request to leave Chippa United for February this year, still dey as free agent till today. But with his quality, e no go take time before he find new club.
The Nigerian goalkeeper yarn say he no dey in support of move go back him home country. According to Brila FM, Nwabali reveal say the quality and structure of Nigerian Premier League no reach the likes of Botola Pro 1 for Morocco, and the Premier Soccer League for South Africa.
“For West Africa, our leagues no good like that. We want to go Europe, we want to come South Africa, we want to go Morocco,” the former Chippa United shot-stopper talk.
“The league, the pay dey small small better for certain level of your team. If your league good, you dey get pay, you dey get sponsors, wetin you dey find leave for?”
Report show say Nwabali dey earn about $11,000 every month during him time with Chippa United. That one na around R180,000. But for Naija side, the highest-paid goalkeepers for the league dey earn between $880 and $955 monthly. That one na just R13,000 to R15,600.
The difference dey even bigger when you look at top players for the league. Former SuportSport United striker Samir Nurković dey earn $51,000 every month. Thembinkosi Lorch sef dey earn around $66,000 monthly during him time with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Players for some of Morocco biggest sides like Wydad AC and Raja Club Athletic dey earn between $30,000 to $50,000 every month. That one depend on contracts and bonuses.
But for Naija side, former Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa wey return to Nigeria with Kano Pillars for 2024, dey earn about $3,680 monthly. That one na just R60,000. The gap dey clear like daylight.
