Omo, this Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 wey dem call “Don’t Do Anything Rash” don scatter head for real. The thing just dey fire from start to finish. If you think say the previous episodes don show you action, wait make you see wetin happen for this one. The war between the Coalition of Planets and the Viltrumites don reach another level entirely.
For the last episode, Mark Grayson wey be Invincible dey recover from him near-death fight with that strong guy, Conquest. Him papa, Nolan wey dem dey call Omni-Man, and him brother Oliver dey watch over am. Oliver even manage to forgive him papa for some past wahala. But as Mark dey heal, trouble dey brew for Talescria.
Grand Regent Thragg and him Viltrumite warriors attack Talescria after their mole shut down the planet defences. Allen, Tech Jacket, and Great Thaddeus try to protect the civilians, but the villainous Viltrumites just dey wipe people out. Help come just at the right time when Mark, Nolan, and Oliver join the fight to prevent more deaths.
At the end of that episode, Thadeus say e be time to attack Thragg before him forces join am. That one mean say the heroes must go to the heart of the empire, Planet Viltrum. And na so Episode 7 start with serious action.
The episode begin with flashback to the time of Emperor Argall. We see young Thadeus suggest better ways to deal with alien species wey dey rebel against Viltrum, but Argall and Thragg just scoff at the idea. Thragg even express concern to Argall say Thadeus don become soft and could be threat to Viltrum. Thadeus later sneak into Argall chambers and assassinate am.
When Thragg announce Argall death to the public, e step into the role of Grand Regent and order the Viltrumites to “cut the cancer out.” This lead to Viltrumites beginning to kill each other – children inclusive. Na brutal sight with heads being ripped off and backs being broken. The victors be the Viltrumites wey we don dey follow for this season.
Back to present time, Thadeus tell Mark, Nolan, Oliver, Allen, Telia, Tech Jacket, Battle Beast, and Space Racer say Thragg don retreat to Viltrum. But while Thragg don reach there, many of the remaining Viltrumites no go reach for several days. Allen ponder if killing Thragg go only fuel the Viltrum Empire rage more, but Thadeus insist say once Thragg die, the remaining Viltrumites go die off one by one.
Mark record one last video message to Eve, saying everybody dey nervous about fighting Thragg – even Nolan. But e no send the message, instead e proclaim, “I love you, and I’m coming back.” Meanwhile, Oliver, Allen, Tech Jacket, Telia, and Battle Beast try to eat but no fit bring themselves to do so. Battle Beast say dem “must nourish before battle.” Dem even go around state wetin dem want as their final meals.
Thadeus and Nolan talk in another room, with Nolan expressing concern about whether the end goal na to wipe out all Viltrumites, including Mark and Oliver. When Telia announce say dem don reach Viltrum center, e be time to get ready. Dem formulate plan to stick together when confronting Thragg; nobody fit try to take am on alone.
Mark shock when e see ring of corpses surrounding Viltrum. Dem tell am say this na deliberate warning against weakness. Even more troubling, Thragg dey already waiting for dem, floating within the ring of corpses – e know about the coming attack. Thragg call on Kregg, Anissa, Thula, and Lucan to attack the team.
Tech Jacket use limited supply of syringes full of Sinlak Beetle compound to fire at the Viltrumites, to make dem weaker to physical injury. Space Racer fly in and let loose several Ragnars to attack. Space Racer helmet scatter, and e begin to suffocate, but Tech Jacket fly in and rescue am.
Nolan confront Thragg, wey then punch down to Viltrum surface, telling am to “come home.” Nolan refuse to betray the Coalition, calling Viltrum tomb and saying “You’re not my family anymore.” Thragg try other ways to get Nolan to double-cross Thadeus, including bringing up the safety of Mark and Oliver.
In the throne room, Thragg tell Nolan say fighting for Thadeus na fighting for him, Mark, and Oliver destruction. Nolan stress say if Thragg agree to stop the fighting, e go spare am, and e willing to go against Thadeus orders. Still in denial, Thragg reject Nolan offer, telling am “A death in any Viltrumite leaves a void in me,” before punching am back up into orbit.
Thragg fly back up into the battle, where Oliver, going against orders, try to take am on alone. This go horribly wrong, with Thragg ripping off Oliver jaw and right arm. Mark see this happen, causing him rage to ignite once more, threatening “I killed Conquest, I’ll kill you too.” For moment, everybody – both heroes and Viltrumites – pause their fighting and stare at Mark.
Mark try to punch Thragg, but Thragg resistant to any damage wey dem throw at am. Upon seeing the gravely wounded Oliver, Nolan come up with idea, calling upon the team to follow him lead and for Space Racer to fire him Infinity Ray into Viltrum surface.
As dem begin their descent, both Allen and Tech Jacket get taken out, leaving only Thadeus, Mark, Nolan, and Space Racer embarking on the dangerous trek. Mark, Nolan, and Thadeus try to reach the center of Viltrum to pave path for Space Racer blast to reach the core.
Their plan succeed, and Viltrum completely annihilated, leaving nothing but debris. As everyone stop and stare in shock at the remains of Viltrum, Thadeus say this na the only way to show dem the truth: “Viltrumites, your world has been destroyed. Surrender is your only option.”
Thragg scream “I choose death,” fly towards Thadeus, and rip off him head, announcing say Emperor Argall death don finally been avenged. Mark order Allen to find Oliver, while Thragg grab hold of Nolan and fly off with am. Mark watch in terror as Thragg ruthlessly beat Nolan, punching hole through him chest.
Mark once again try to attack, but Thragg grab am by the head and begin to gouge him eyes out. The other Viltrumites arrive, telling Thragg to finish am off, but e stop short, saying “We got too few already.” As Mark and Nolan bodies float through space, Telia and the crew find dem.
Episode 7 end weeks later with Mark waking up to find say Allen don become the interim leader of the Coalition of Planets. Allen lead Mark to room where recovering Nolan watch unconscious Oliver floating in stasis tank, informing Mark say him brother go be OK. As Allen brief am about the status of Thragg, Mark realize say him and the other Viltrumites dey head to Earth.
This episode na penultimate one for Season 4, meaning we get just one more episode to go. The animation for this episode top – especially the destruction of Viltrum and the fight scenes. Thragg power don show say e no be small thing at all. If you think Conquest and Omni-Man strong, wait make you see Thragg.
The episode also give us better understanding of Viltrum history and how Thragg become Grand Regent. That flashback to when Viltrumites begin to kill each other na one of the most brutal things wey don appear for the show. E show how strength and true power na all dem care about.
Now with Viltrum destroyed and Thragg still alive with him Viltrumites heading to Earth, the stage don set for what go be explosive season finale. Mark family and the people of Earth now dey in serious danger. The next episode go show us how this whole war go end.
