Di Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa, yarn dis matter during one meeting wey Development of Educational Action Network Initiative organize for Abuja. Di meeting focus on ‘Nigeria’s Current Digital Landscape: Our Reality and Its Practical Connection to Education’.
Inuwa talk through Dr Aristotle Onumo, wey be NITDA‘s Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnerships. Dem say as digital economy dey grow fast-fast, classroom don dey change and teachers’ work don dey different. “Teachers no be only people wey dey teach book again; dem don become guides wey dey help students find correct information for internet, avoid bad online content, and learn how to behave well for digital space,” Inuwa talk.
Di NITDA boss stress say teachers must teach students how to think well and give dem practical digital skills wey go help dem survive for dis technology world we dey now. Inuwa promise say NITDA go continue to promote digital literacy for everywhere for Nigeria through programs like Digital Literacy for All and partnerships with schools to make teachers better.
Nigeria get target to reach 70 percent digital literacy by 2027 as part of plan to build economy wey go depend on knowledge and technology innovation. Inuwa talk say dis na important goal wey go help our kontri compete with oda kontris for digital matters.
Executive Director of DEAN Initiative, Semiye Michael, talk say di workshop dem organize na to make teachers’ skills match with wetin digital economy need. “We need to make teachers sabi digital things well and give dem access to digital infrastructure wey go help dem teach,” Michael yarn. Dem say wetin dem learn from di meeting go help make better policies for education and technology for Nigeria.
Di meeting bring together important stakeholders from Federal Ministry of Education, Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, and private sector experts. Dem all agree say dem must work together to prepare Nigeria teachers for digital age.

Many people don dey talk say Nigeria dey behind for digital literacy. But with dis plan to train teachers and reach 70% digital literacy by 2027, kontri fit begin move forward. NITDA don already dey work on different programs to help Nigerians learn digital skills.
Di challenge now na to make sure all teachers across Nigeria get access to dis training. Some areas for village no get good internet or computers. Government need to provide infrastructure and make sure training reach everywhere.
