According to wetin dem talk for court, Abass Olalekan wey be Local Government Inspector (LGI) for NYSC under Abeokuta South Local Government Area, dey work with some other people wey dem no still catch to plan how dem go do abortion for Victoria Ariyo. The corper wey dey serve under the same local government where Olalekan dey work, don die from pregnancy complications wey sources claim say na because of abortion wey dem try do for am.
The charge sheet wey dem read for court with number MA/22/99/2026 show say the offence happen between January and March 2026 for Ikereku area for Laderin, Abeokuta. For count one, dem accuse Olalekan and others at large say dem conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit: Abortion, and na offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006.
For count two, dem accuse am say for the same date, time and place for the aforementioned magisterial district, dem unlawfully attempt to procure abortion by supplying Ariyo Victoria Olapeju drugs. This one na offence contrary and punishable under Section 230 of the Criminal code laws of Ogun State 2006.
When dem ask am wetin e dey talk about the charges, Abass Olalekan talk say e no guilty. E lawyer wey be Elizabeth Adelabu, come file for bail on behalf of the accused, talk say the alleged charges na bailable ones. The Magistrate wey be Mrs A.K. Araba, grant the defendant bail for the sum of N500,000 with two sureties wey go pay the same amount.
Magistrate Araba talk say one of the sureties must be blood relative, while the other one must be gainfully employed. E add say the sureties must provide utility bill, depose to affidavit of means, submit six passport photographs and provide evidence of 2026 tax payment to the Ogun Government.
Because of the bail conditions wey dem set, the magistrate order say make dem remand the defendant for Ibara Correctional Centre pending perfection of the bail conditions. The case don adjourn until April 14 for further hearing.
