According to di commissioner, di state dey work towards make every home for Lagos get access to clean water by di year 2027. Wahab explain say di government dey rehabilitate waterworks and dey invest for new infrastructure to improve water supply across di state.
“We dey take steps to improve water supply for Lagos. We dey rehab waterworks, we dey invest for new infrastructure, and we dey explore partnerships to bring expertise and funding. Our goal na to make sure all homes get access to clean water by 2027,” Wahab talk for im statement.
Di commissioner also talk about di need to reduce dependence on private boreholes and wells wey many residents dey use as main water source. Im emphasize di importance of water conservation and better water management practices.
World Water Day wey dem celebrate on March 22 na United Nations initiative wey dey raise awareness about di importance of freshwater for life. Dis year theme focus on empowering women and girls for water management sector.
Wahab mention say over 2.1 billion people worldwide no get access to safe water, and im call for collective action to address di global water crisis. For Lagos specifically, di government dey face challenge of providing reliable water supply to di growing population.
Di state water supply gap don make many residents depend on alternative sources like boreholes and water vendors. Di new partnership approach aim to bring technical expertise and additional funding to accelerate water infrastructure development.
Environmental experts don welcome di announcement but dem dey emphasize say action must follow words. Dem talk say previous promises about water supply improvement for Lagos don not always translate to tangible results for ordinary residents.
