Naija Digital Health: Time to Level Up Our Game?

My people, online health matter dey hot for Naija o! As e be now, we don pass the stage of just talk. Na time to put mouth for ground and do this digital health thing well well!

You sabi say we get national programs like Nigeria Digital in Health Initiative wey don change the gist from only dream to serious policy. But abeg, policy no dey treat patient. Na system dey do that work! So, make we see how this technology go fit work for inside our primary health centers and hospitals.

According to the NDHI, over 720 health facilities don don digitise for Naija. Na serious movement be this oh! Plus, over 2.5 million health workers don receive training and digital tools wey go help dem do their work better. Even telemedicine don increase reach almost 300% since the pandemic come land, with over 30 million people dey use these digital health platforms.

Make I no forget the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative wey wan double the functional primary health centres from 8,809 to 17,618 by 2027. E be like say we sabi dey make plan, but how we go fit carry this plan enter ground level? By 2030, Naija fit build the yolk of a strong digital health system wey go deliver better healthcare.

But wait, the catching question be: Wetin go happen when the time reach? Na execution for states level go matter! NHSRII get clear digital targets wey go make sure say 80% of Local Government Areas fit dey capture primary healthcare data properly. From 9% baseline, we need reach dat level oh!

Plus, all dis technology talk no go work if we no fit trust am. Nigeria Data Protection Act wey drop for 2023 don establish consent and accountability wey people need to feel safe about their health info. Telemedicine and digital platforms wey follow all these laws go encourage people to use them well.

Na state go still carry majority load. First, make dem strengthen our frontline health facilities with better tech wey go work even when network dey waka. Digital tools need dey reliable oh! Patients still need to dey the center of all this gree-glee we dey talk. Imagine somebody go clinic and no dey lose their records. That one go mean say dem dey follow up as dem suppose!

Evaluation no suppose be about how many tools we fit set up, but how peoples’ health dey improve! The states need to track all dis health outcomes properly. The things wey dey matter na whether dem fit reduce repeated tests, manage chronic illness, or get timely referrals.

By 2030, if every state fit put dis mindset to action, Naija go sabi find am better! We go have electronic records wey dey exchange well, fewer health wastes, and citizens go feel the fresh air of progress as we dey chase universal health coverage!

Transformation no go happen just by mouth. Na steady, focused execution go bring change wey go last. Na the governors, commissioners, and health leaders wey go decide if dis digital health system go be reality or just another gist wey we go forget. So, my brothas and sistas, make we dey push for this change and make sure say wetin we go achieve no be only fine words but true, real impact for our people!
