No be small matter o! Na the family of one Ekiti man, Haruna Ayeni, wey don serve almost 14 years for prison dey shout for help from Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Dem dey talk say the court wey sentence am no do am well, as dem believe say na unjust conviction wahala dey this matter.
As the gist go, e start for June 2012, when Haruna papa get fight with another man over land matter wey dey Emure Ekiti. Dis wahala turn to fight for dem papa farm, after which one man run go report dem to police, come wahala ensue. Olusola Ayeni, Haruna brother, come yarn say no be him and him papa wey allot na die. Na so dem come carry Haruna join their papa for police.
Dem dey code say the two men originally carry dem go court for assault case, but later dem strike am out and release dem. Olusola yarn say, “Na after Haruna go bail him papa, the police come dey tell dem say anybody wey come bail go dey lock up too. Na there wahala really start.”
This na big wahala, as the man wey report the assault later die for him house na im make everything dey komot. Shocking thing be say, after dem release dem for first case, dem come rearrest dem and bring new charge of murder wey dem lay on top dem head. Dis kin fate wey no sweet.
Fast forward to 2014, Na Ekiti State High Court, give Haruna and him papa life sentence of death. As if that one no plenty, dem lose their papa inside prison and dem sister too waka go road accident while she dey go visit Haruna. Life no thank dem at all!
Olusola dey beg Governor make e no allow dem continue suffer like this. Him talk say: “We dey beg am make he check this case well; we no fit lose another person. Haruna dey rotting for prison for something him no do.”
Omo, wahala dey for this whole matter as Haruna lawyer, Barrister Seun Ajayi, talk say e don join the matter after the Court of Appeal don close mouth on top am, but he dey try land governor’s clemency. He talk say, “I enter this case after the Court of Appeal finish work, and I believe say dem judge follow wetin dem get for court.”
However, Ekiti State Attorney General, Dayo Apata, dey yan say these people no dey talk truth about di case. As Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he claim say dem follow proper trial and Court of Appeal no even waver dey still uphold the conviction. Now, dem dey talk say di whole matter still dey Supreme Court level. E no easy for anybody for this matter o!
